Each level consists of 12 PACEs in each subject. PACEs integrate Godly character-building lessons into the academic content, and self-instructional activities are carefully designed to develop thinking skills and create mastery learning.

A.C.E. stands out from other curriculum providers with its individualized, self-instructional, mastery-based approach.  With minimal assistance, PACEs allow students to absorb subject material according to their own learning ability rather than being pushed forward or held back by their age.

What is ACE Homeschooling actaully

A.C.E. – Accelerate Christian Education (ACE Homeschooling) – Give your children a head start in life that will place them on the road to success!

ACE HOMESCHOOLING, Steps to start with ACE Homeschooling

Accelerated Christian Education® stands out from other curriculum providers with its individualized, self-instructional, mastery-based approach.  With minimal assistance, PACEs allow students to absorb subject material according to their own learning ability rather than being pushed forward or held back by their age.

How it’s put together:

  • Students begin their PACE work by noting their goals, the concepts they will learn, a Bible verse, and a corresponding character trait. From the beginning of each PACE, they know what is expected and assume the responsibility for their own learning!
  • Throughout the curriculum, the introduction of new vocabulary words is controlled so that no new vocabulary word is used without the student first learning its meaning and pronunciation. Also, these words are repeated to ensure mastery.
  • Explanations and illustrations add excitement to each lesson, and innovative learning activities reinforce the text material.
  • Each PACE contains several Checkups, which are quizzes covering a section of the PACE. If mastery in an area is not achieved, the Checkup will reveal that weak area. Students can then take the time necessary to review and learn those concepts before proceeding to the next section.
  • Upon completion of the activities and Checkups, students prepare to take the Self Test. Here students evaluate themselves, and a supervisor/tutor determines readiness for the final PACE Test. When the Self Test is successfully completed, the student turns in the PACE and takes the PACE Test the next school morning. The PACE Test objectively measures student mastery of the material.

Ongoing review and testing provide regular evaluation of learners’ progress in thinking, reading and writing skills. Each unit integrates Biblical and character-building principles.

Grade 1

The English PACEs match what is learned phonetically in the Word Building PACEs.

Grade 2

All the phonics are reviewed. Vowels are identified. Learners learn to identify, read and write different types of sentences such as telling, asking and exclamatory sentences. This course provides activities that accompany the ABCs with Ace and Christi learning-to-read programme. These PACEs provide the foundational phonetic skills needed for reading and writing mastery. Children learn 35 letter sounds and 11 additional blends and diphthongs that are basic to all reading. Children should be able to read even unfamiliar words and material when they have completed this programme.

Grades 2 and 3

Word Building increases learners’ vocabulary bases and reinforces their confidence and capabilities
in spelling. Earlier levels expand the learners’ grasp of phonetic sounds and combinations. Each level presents appropriate spelling rules and their exceptions by both statement and drill. This course begins with simple words and progresses through to more complex words, teaching the relationships between words and spelling patterns.

Unique world perspective

Social Studies (Sciences) is the study of people, their activities, customs and institutions in relationship to other people. Social Studies includes history, economics, geography and government.

This course looks at world history and cultures from the perspective that God is the Designer, Creator and Controller of the universe.

Grade 1

Level 1 introduces young learners to the basic principles of life. They learn to recognise and are challenged and motivated to
do what is right. They also learn to be kind, to share, and to be obedient to rules and laws. This level requires reading character- building stories and answering questions.

Grade 2

At this level the material builds visual discrimination and vocabulary, and teaches about the nations and some of the great political and Godly leaders of the past.

Grade 3

This level covers communication, conservation, communities, agriculture, geography, colonisation and slavery. This approach to history encourages learners to love and respect their country. The heroes and heroines to whom they are introduced provide role models representing ideals and aspirations for which learners can strive.

Where appropriate, specific PACEs have been nationalised, so that learners can appreciate the heritage and history of their own countries.

Objectives

To study Social Studies is to study responses of people to the truth of the Word of God. Beginning in the Garden of Eden, man’s failure to abide by the principles of God is traced throughout history. Learners explore the concepts of conservatism, free enterprise, personal responsibility, and governmental responsibility from God’s point of view. The curriculum gives many illustrations of individuals who have practised the precepts of God through the ages. This material stresses a citizen’s Biblical responsibility.

Developing natural curiosity

Science is knowledge based on observed facts and tested truths, presented in an orderly fashion. Science includes the study of plants, animals, biology, physical science, chemistry and physics.

The curriculum for foundation phase Science covers concepts and principles which are expanded throughout all levels. The curriculum takes learners’ natural curiosity about their physical environment and helps them build a solid foundation upon Biblical principles.

Grade 1

This course material presents young learners with the facts of Creation as presented in the Bible. They learn about the human body as well as concepts of health care and hygiene. Animal Science is a separate section in the curriculum.

Grade 2

This level sets forth the days of Creation and what was created on each day. It also demonstrates how various plants and animals function in today’s world.

Grade 3

This curriculum addresses the life cycles of animals and plants. Learners will learn about the effects of solar bodies on the earth. Geological changes after the Flood, jungles and hot lands, tundra and cold lands, volcanoes and earthquakes raise the natural curiosity of students. All this and much more makes this an exciting learning experience.

Be prepared for an exciting learning experience!

Special features

  • Character-building encouraged through experience – writing and drawing
  • Character-building illustrated in story and picture
  • Simple experiments that coincide with the text
  • Parent involvement in the learning process

Studying the scriptures is important because scripture study is preparation for and a prerequisite to receiving personal revelation.

Grade 1

The PACEs feature vividly coloured picture story cards to be used in conjunction with the character-building Bible stories which are a specific feature of the ABCs with Ace and Christi Learning-to-Read programme. A variety of activities give attention to development of the small motor muscles, eye-hand coordination, and visual discrimination.

Grade 2

Learners read the Book of John. As they read, they are also expected to answer questions about God’s Word. In addition, they learn the books of the New Testament in order. Honourable character traits and dealing with relationships are emphasised. Learners explore the concept of relating to God through understanding of the Bible.

Grade 3

Learners become familiar with the Book of Matthew while learning the books of the Old Testament in order. There is constant review of the Old Testament books and practise in recognising them.

Children love to learn about animals. The animal science programme encourages an interest in their habitats, special features and physical characteristics.

Grade 1

Animal Science is a welcome companion to the ABCs with Ace and Christi Learning-to-Read programme. It incorporates, in PACE form, the picture story cards and animal stories used to illustrate all the alphabet sounds. Also included are a variety of activities to develop the small motor muscles, hand-eye coordination, and visual discrimination.
