Education at Tshwane Home Educators Academy is about self confidence, challenge and enjoyment. It teaches the importance of constructive questioning and a sense of responsibility with compassion, confidence and creativity.
Our Team
Tshwane Home Educators Academy was established in 2004 by Hester van der Merwe. Hester has been with A.C.E. since 1996. Vincent joined TshwaneHEA in 2013, he was an A.C.E. student from Gr. R – 12. This gives them expertise and experience in the education field. Together the team serve with excellence.

Our Story
Tshwane Home Educators Academy is Celebrating 15 Years of Education Done Right!
We believe that every parent should according to scripture “Train a child in the way he or she should go (and in keeping his individual gift or bent) and when he is old he or she will never depart from it” Proverbs 22:6
Hester van der Merwe started Tshwane HEA in 2004, but before starting she was a Principle of a School from 1996, in this time the schools use to receive yearly visits from AEE Head Office in regards to the statues of the school. The Regional Representative came to do the yearly visit and said: “Hester, I think you must start a Home School Academy.” To which she replied, “No, please really?” of course he replied, “Yes, and I think you must name it Tshwane Home Educators Academy.” The Representative knowing what the Lord’s plan was, went ahead and registered the Home Educators Academy.
Hester started running the Home Educators Academy alongside her current School, starting with 30 children. Due to running both the School and Home School, working long hours and not spending the time with their children as they’d liked, Hester and Hennie decided to leave the school and continue full time with the Home Schooling.
Starting out in their garage, with only 30 children registered with them, she knew the Lord put her on this path and that He will provide so we could impact more children and families. They stayed there for 2 years and then moved to the current office, where we have grown from 30 children to over 1000+ going through our Academy over the past 15 years.
Alongside Hester and Hennie, Vincent joined the team 6 years ago, being the member that has completed A.C.E. from Grade R – 12, both in an A.C.E. School and Home School. Adding both Hester and Vincent’s knowledge and expertise’s regarding education, treasury and family they will be able to serve you in only excellence.
We welcome you to join in our story, with over 100+ Matric students so far, helping over 200+ home school families grow and improve yearly, and seeking only the best for each child’s wellbeing. Tshwane Home Educators Academy wants to welcome you to our home school family, may your journey be filled with blessings, learning, and grace.
